The function of the vas deferens, also known as the ductus deferens, is to store and transport sperm during ejaculation. The vas deferens starts at the epididymis of the testes and ends by uniting with the duct from the seminal vesicle, to form the ejaculatory duct. A vasectomy is a simple surgical sterilization procedure for men to prevent future fertility. The vasectomy procedure consists of the vas deferens being cut and blocked, in order to prevent sperm from mixing with the ejaculate fluid.
