I drew images of the trachea and then proceeded to find branches to create the lungs. I also took Play-Do and created a heart. In one image you can see everything, the right is on the left side with the normal/healthy lungs, while in the second it is sitting simply with the lungs containing tuberculosis and is damaged.

  1. My partner for this project is Kirian Hoff, and their project is on Tuberculosis in the Lungs & Affect on the cardiovascular system. Kirian drew two different images of what the heart/lungs look like in normal and on the other side what the heart/lungs look like with tuberculosis. The normal picture looks perfectly healthy with no problems occurring. On the non-healthy side, it shows a bunch of red spots occurring in the throat because of irritations and coughing. The symptoms of tuberculosis consist of constant coughing, loss of appetite, weight loss, fever, chills, and night sweats. Some other symptoms are bone ache/pain, organs may not function properly, and blood and/ or mucus in one cough. What causes tuberculosis to happen is Mycobacterium tuberculosis, enhancing germs from the air, or someone who has TB that you are around. Treatment can take anywhere from 4-9 months. At 4 months, there’s a “high dose”, of Rifapentine, Moxifloxacin, Isoniazid, and Pyrazinamide. 8-week duration, 7 days a week = intensive phase. 9-week duration, 7 days a week = continuation phase. 6-9 months Rifampin, Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide, and Ethambutol. The mortality rate is at 40% with cardiac involvement, and the heart develops problems if TB affects it. Overall, I believe that this is a well-done project and it shows how much effort Kirian put into this I’ve also learned new things from this project.
