Breastfeeding has a lot of benefits to both the mother and baby. Breastmilk promotes neurological growth, immunity, microbiome, and creates a unique diet specific to the babies needs. The breastfeeding mother has a lower risk of certain cancers and diabetes. However, breastfeeding isn’t for everyone since it is extremely time and energy consuming. A mother who is HIV positive cannot breastfeed without passing it to her baby through her milk. Overall, breastfeeding has plenty of benefits and I encourage people to look at the pros and cons for each lifestyle and find the best option for them.

  1. I really love the drawing! The use of space is really great. I can tell you put a lot of thought into the mother’s expression. She looks very loving. I think it’s great that you had multiple pros and cons. Breastfeeding truly does have multiple benefits. The con if a mother has HIV then she shouldn’t breastfeed made me want to ask a few other questions. The question; if a mother has HIV how does her child not get HIV when in the womb? Does the environment affect the probiotics produced? Is there specific food that a breastfeeding mother should eat more of or stay away from. How does breastfeeding vs formula affect a baby’s development? How does breastfeeding affect the mother? What are the long term impacts of a child who only drank formula as a kid? All the information is accurate, I just wish there was more to read. This is a very interesting topic to me. It’s also great that you encourage other people to do their research to figure out what works for them.
