  1. In “Essential Elements of the Human Body”, Julia Martynyuk uses a jar stacked neatly and beautifully to show the elements of the body and the percentage of each one. Detail is expanded upon in the essay, about each element and its functions. Blue is shown to represent Oxygen, green is Carbon, pink is Hydrogen, purple is Nitrogen, and even the elements that make up 1.5% of the bodily composition are shown in the jar. The yellow layer is Calcium, and the orange layer is Phosphorous. The next white layer is 1.2% of bodily composition and contains Potassium, Sulfur, Sodium, Chlorine and Magnesium. The last layer used in the jar on the very top is less than 1% total and represents Chromium, Iron, Iodine, Selenium, Zink, Copper, Fluorine. Although there are other elements, they are in such trace amounts that would be difficult to represent in a model such as this. The jar is a great way to understand the basis of the main 4 elements that the human body is made up of, and the reader will seek a better understanding by reading the essay at the same time as looking at and analyzing the jar.
