My STEAM project represents how neurons are affected in those with Multiple Sclerosis and another way to think about the importance that the myelin sheath has on impulses and how this impacts the nervous system.

  1. Absolutely love the comparison. Given that Multiple Sclerosis attacks and damages are made to the myelin sheath, exposes axon and fiber nerves which causes deterioration the picture shown on the right hand side gives us a visual of what happens and how it looks when Multiple Sclerosis “eats” away a the myelin sheath one can imagine the nerves misfiring due to the damage.
