  1. The objective of this Steam Project was to show how the LVAD pump system allows the body to continue to function even in heart failure. This pump allows the body to continue to pump blood to the rest of the body even though it is too weak to do so. The LVAD system allows the body to put less stress on the left ventricle due to the pump helping the left ventricle distribute oxygenated blood to the rest of the body. The LVAD system is connected to the heart and helps distribute blood, this system runs on batteries and when the pump system is on the left ventricle sometimes the heart will need another pump for the right ventricle because the heart cannot keep up with the left ventricles new blood flow. The LVAD system is supposed to be temporary because it allows the body to continue to function until it receives a transplant from an organ donor. The LVAD system is a temporary fix to heart failure because the patient with them can last roughly five years or so but this is only a temporary fix. The LVAD pump helps the circulatory system because it allows the heart to continue to function even though it is failing it continues to pump blood even though the heart cannot do it on its own. This project shows how the LVAD system is set up on the heart so it is able to assist the circulatory system.
