It is important to keep an eye out for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin deficiency. The lack of Alpha-1 Antitrypsin can lead to long lasting lung damage.
This art project illustrates how this deficiency affects alveoli.
This project is also a memorial for my grandmother who passed away from lung complications from this genetic disorder.

Alpha-1 Antitrypsin is a protein synthesized by the liver that protects healthy tissue from elastase. The project shows how the alveoli are affected by a deficiency of the protein discussed.
