  1. In this project Dylan focused on function of muscles and more specifically how they contract as a unit, rather than how the muscle is induced to contract. He goes on to describe the motions of a muscle like a team of rowers. The myosin filaments are represented by the canoe and the people and paddles rowing are the myosin heads. The motion of contraction must be all at once. Much like how the rowers have the be synchronized and move all at once for the boat to go anywhere, the myosin heads have to all move at once for the muscle to contract. Each “row” of the paddles represent a cycle that ATP supplies. Overall the canoe model is a really clever way to represent how a muscle contracts.
