  1. Emma’s project, titled “Rigor Mortis,” blends science with an imaginative holiday narrative to explain the process of rigor mortis. The story continues as Sam, the protagonist, is in a deep sleep when he is startled awake by an unfamiliar voice—Rigor Mortis. He finds himself in a gingerbread house discovers that Santa is dead.
Rigor Mortis takes on the role of a guide, explaining the physiological steps of rigor mortis, starting with pallor mortis. The project also addresses the educational objective of explaining how a muscle contraction is induced. Through this framework, it delves into the role of ATP, calcium ions, and muscle fibers, cleverly integrating these concepts into the narrative.
With vivid illustrations and storytelling, the project provides a creative and accessible way to teach muscle physiology and the biological processes that occur after death, all within the context of a playful holiday theme.
