Hi! First, fair warning: as I was trying to upload the comic, it wouldn’t let me embed the link or display it, so I’ve provided the link for the PDF through the site. Let me know if you need me to provide the file again!

This comic is a simple comparison of a normal immune system vs. an under-trained, hyper-reactive immune system.

Comic notes: this is hand-drawn with pencil on paper, traced in ink liner pens, scanned as a PDF, then I added digitally written script because I have terrible handwriting that doesn’t scan well.

  1. Brenna did a creative way on how the immune system works, using a comic to illustrate it. The main goal is to show how the immune system learns to tell the difference between actual threats, like viruses or bacteria, and harmless stuff like food or friendly microbes. The comic does a great job of walking us through how immune cells communicate and make decisions. It also shows what happens when the immune system gets confused and overreacts, which is how things like allergies can develop. One of the big takeaways is how important it is for our immune system to be exposed to different microbes early on, so it can learn what’s truly dangerous and what’s not.
Overall, the project is educational is done very well.
