  1. Peer Abstract-
Osteoporosis is a condition of the bone caused by a nutrient deficiency where the bones become porous. This leads to fragile bones and a higher chance at injury. Suggestions to avoid this condition include veering away from a sedentary lifestyle. However, because of the increase in the septuagenarian population and the high rate of diabetes in the US, there is a massive spike of breaks and fractures among this population. To address this issue it’s important to learn about diabetes and how it can worsen or affect osteoporosis. There are 2 types of diabetes that are affected by the presence of something called insulin, which is a hormone that regulates blood sugar. The decrease of this hormone and other diabetes symptoms causes an interference with calcium levels in the body which in turn increases the likelihood of developing osteoporosis or having an earlier onset.
