  1. Abstract: Impulse to Contraction by Ashley Hailey

This steam project is a visual representation of the electrical conduction system of the heart. Her chart is divided into two phases, the Rest Phase, and the Ventricle Contraction Phase.
The process begins in the rest phase in the Sinoatrial (SA) node located in the right atrium where the electrical impulse begins. The impulse travels to the Bachmann’s bundle, to the left atrium, down the atrioventricular bundle.
Next is the ventricle contraction phase which goes through the atrioventricular bundle, divided into two bundle branches, one on the right and one on the left. Next the bundle branches out to the Purkinje fibers and delivers the contraction to the contractile fibers.

Finally the ventricle contracts and pumps blood out of the heart into the aorta and into the pulmonary artery. This process allows for a contraction through an electrical impulse moving through the heart causing blood to be pumped throughout the circulatory system.
