Hannah Prenger’s steam project is on the compromisation of osseous tissue on Cigarettes’ Smokers. She also relates it to her own personal life in regard to the fact that she is a child of a smoker. The essay is detailed and to the point. She identifies calcium, phosphorus and vitamin D as the three main minerals in bone function. She discusses the physiology of calcium in detail used in 4 types of bone cells. Osteoblasts, oseocytes, oeseogenic cells and osteoclasts. She also gives detailed descriptions of each. She also goes into how smoking creates a detriment to these tissues. Finally, she related it to home made bread. One of large air pockets and one of small. Small referencing denser bones of smokers, and the larger referencing less dense bones. The two types in reference to normal and damaged bone of smokers.
