In this project, Avisha shows the four major different types of tissues, along with some common abnormalities they may face. It is doe very artistically though the use of painted woodblocks, which is very cool. The types of tissues depicted are epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue, and nervous tissue. The nervous tissue is clearly depicted by the picture of a neuron. You can also see between the two wood blocks of the nervous tissue, that they are different. The one on the left shows a healthy dendrite, while the one on the right shows a dendrite with an abnormality. The same can be said for the wood blocks about the connective tissue. As you can see, the one on the left is healthy, whereas the one on the right is not. The one on the right shows that there is some sort of inflammation of the cartilage/connective tissue between the two bones. The wood blocks with the lungs depict epithelial tissue, more specifically simple squamous epithelium. The one on the left shows healthy lungs, whereas the one on the right shows the lungs with an abnormality. The wood blocks with the hand depict muscle tissue. Like the others, the one on the right shows a healthy picture, whereas the one on the left shows one with an abnormality. I think that these pictures represent how much an abnormality can affect our lives if we have one or if something causes us to have one. If we had an abnormality of the lungs, breathing would be hard. If we had an abnormality in our hands, doing anything with them would be hard. If something was wrong in the tissue between our bones, any movement associated with those bones would be difficult and probably painful. And if something was wrong with the neurons in our nervous system, something very simple could become very difficult. I think that these wood blocks illustrations do a great job of representing that.
