Abstract

Consistency of stool can be used as an indicator of gut health. Gastrointestinal disorders are often embarrassing to talk about. The use of the Bristol Stool Form Scale can help alleviate the difficulties without having to say out loud how your stools look. The Bristol Stool Form Scale(BSFS) is something that is used in many doctor’s offices to quickly assess whether your bowel movements could be considered normal.  The BSFS is a scale between 1 and 7, with 3 and 4 being what are considered normal bowel movements.   One on the scale is small, hard, rabbit like pellets that usually accompany constipation. Seven on the scale is watery diarrhea that has no substance.
