  1. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that is common and affects one out of ten teen girls and women. Women with PCOS, their ovaries produce excessive amounts of testosterone that can disrupt the normal menstrual cycles making them heavier, irregular, or nonexistent. PCOS can also cause excess hair and acne, weight gain, alopecia, darker skin around the neck, armpits, or breast. Most importantly, females with PCOS experience mental health difficulties such as low self-esteem and depression. Unfortunately, there is not a cure for PCOS but ways to treat and manage it with lifestyle changes and/or medications. The approach of the artwork is neat, it is not a plain jane labeled drawing of the female reproductive system but has a feminine touch on it by using flowers that young girls, teens, and adult females could relate too. There are different amounts and sizes of cotton balls to represent what a polycystic ovary looks like compared with a normal ovary.
