  1. This is an awesome painting comparing a healthy heart vs a heart that has suffered from myocardial infarction (also known as a heart attack). A myocardial infarction is when blood flow decreases or stops in parts of the heart resulting in muscle damage. In the painting it is demonstrated the types of myocardial infarction that can occur (type 1 and 2), what muscle damage to the heart looks like (darker areas of the heart), and atherosclerosis which is buildup of plaque within the inner walls of the heart leading to blocked arteries. This touches on the objective of heart function and regulation and the part that blood and oxygen tie into all of it. When the coronary arteries are blocked by atherosclerosis they struggle to respond to increased oxygen demands. The healthy heart represents healthy tissues therefore its has the ability to orchestrate healthy blood flow and proper oxygen input/removal of waste and carbon dioxide. This was a great art piece demonstrating myocardial infarction.
